When a people become one, whatever they imagine to do is
done. I am committed to restoring our state and people to the position our
forebears took us in their era, when we were acknowledged in the Nigerian
configuration as the 4th largest tribe. |
I will maintain the disposition of the state
as the most peaceful part of the Niger Delta. That is because the citizens,
investors and government require a peaceful environment to do business.
|
Akwa Ibom youths will be meaningfully and
gainfully occupied. They will be given political leadership and
responsibilities. There will be large scale capacity building programmes for
skill acquisition resulting in empowerment
through loans or grants. |

I will take social and human development
very seriously by developing our educational systems and infrastructures at all
levels, even introduce free education. Sporting and recreational facilities will
be upgraded and their administration revamped. modern, new health facilities
will be introduced and the institution made vibrant. Various entertainment and
tourist centers will be developed to attract tourists.t centers will be developed to attract tourists.
|
We are committed to creating opportunities
for every Akwa Ibom person to actualise his or her potentials. It is against
this background that i did not spare efforts to support Samuel Peters in his bid
to win the World Boxing Heavyweight crown. His example should inspire others and
assure greatness for Akwa Ibom State.
|
Uncompleted projects such as the Ibom Power Plant,
Science and Technology Park, Le'meridien Ibom Hotel and golf Resort, airport,
and university projects will be completed. these infrastructures will be made to
expand the state's economy. |

I visualise the transformation of Akwa Ibom State
from a civil service economy, into a re-branded model of assertive, more
unified, achievement-driven people. We will average the economy to a vibrant
industrial and technology hub in Nigeria and transform the state into an
irresistible destination in West Africa.
|
Various infrastructure will be
deployed to strike out Akwa Ibom from the list of pedestrian states to a
resognised and enviable destination in Nigeria and even West Africa. Such
strategic infrastructures as an entertainment gallerie with a five-star hotel to
match, free trade zone, Ibaka Sea Port, liquified Natural Gas (LNG).
|
I am synchronizing with federal agricultural strategies to boost production,
processing and export of cassava, oil palm, rice, rubber as well as fisheries.
Increased manpower is being developed for the sector and mechanisation
introduced.

The Nine Point Agenda
Governor Godswill Akpabio's nine point agenda is a governance optimisation model
through critical handles of people, process and technology. It is a method of
placing a human face in governance and re-engineering governance to satisfy
critical needs of the people today while reducing pressure on governance in the
future by laying a solid foundation. The model adapts best in class policies for
sustainable development, resource utilisation, and accountability.
The method places emphasis on teamwork and the attraction of best of breed
people mix for its realisation. It promises to promote people integration,
critical thinking and group dynamics. The Nine point agenda while challenging
long held traditions, beliefs and redefining a modern Akwa Ibom society has
strong points for people management, process performance, and technology
effectiveness.
The nine-point agenda starts with people, then the output from the people in
form of processes, and finally, people empowerment through technology to upscale
the processes. The goal is improved delivery of cutting edge services. In the
end, the nine-point agenda will place people on top and in control of their
world. The nine point agenda is an off-shoot of a clear vision which has been
subjected to critical inputs and people involvement; it is indeed the smell of
good governance.
- Virtualizes state resources and places them in the hands of the people rather
than as toxic assets
- To ensure rapid, multi-sector and concurrent development of the state's
economy
- Alignment with good governance best practices
- Implements scorecards and monitoring
- Promotes integrity, trust, and accountability
- Profitably impacts regional, national, and global value chain
