The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Godswill Akpabio, has played host to former Nigerian Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon in Uyo in which the latter poured encomium on the governor for his developmental strides.
Dr. Gowon, who was in Uyo for the 5th transformation conference organized by First Love Foundation commended Chief Akpabio, on his efforts to develop the state through the dualisation of Ekit Itam-Idoro-Ekom Imam road and other people-oriented projects.
He expressed appreciation to the Ibibio ethnic group for the support given him during the civil war.
Welcoming his guest, Chief Akpabio described his visit as a return home, adding that as a man who fought to keep Nigeria one, every state is his home.
Akpabio requested from his visitor to assist him to appeal to the federal government to see the need to extend its presence to the state, a request the visitor instantly granted.
Akpabio recalled that as a man who ruled the country right from when he clocked 31, his initiative of Nigeria Prays, is worthy of emulation by the youths.
