THE Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has pledged to "conscript" Akwa Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio, into the presidential race in 2015 because, according to the body, "he stands out eminently in terms of performance."
The President of NBA, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, who made the position of the body known at a luncheon organised recently for delegates, who attended a retreat on Constitutional Amendment in Uyo, said they were deeply proud of Akpabio because "wonders are beginning to emerge in Akwa Ibom State."
Insisting that the nation needs a lawyer at the helm of affairs to grow faster, the NBA said they had found a likely candidate in Akpabio, based on the evidence of his unprecedented achievements in just two years.
"We all need a lawyer at the helm of affairs in this country for it to grow. Where the lawyer would come from, it is not me that would decide it. But if at the end of the day, whether in 2015 or whatever, and you are interested, we will campaign for you. If you are not interested, we would conscript you. Because what would speak for you is certainly your works," Akeredolu said.
Akeredolu said the NBA was lucky to have produced two lawyer-governors, who are making the body proud.
