The Governor deliberately inclined attention to develop the people through
several poverty alleviation programmes, specific interventionist strategies for
persons living with disabilities, resource provision for the less privileged,
youth development, legislation, resources and infrastructures for the welfare of
civil servants through provision of better working climate, policies, and
infrastructures. Women development through empowerment, support, and capacity
building, partnership with religious bodies for the development of families,
and a most healthy cordial and constructive relationship with political
opponents.
His Excellency has repositioned the average Akwa Ibom person to stand tall
anytime, anywhere. For those riddled with poverty Governor Akpabio has limited
the major demands to personal spends from feeding, transportation and housing
and has developed schemes where the poor can indeed earn some income while
keeping their eyes on self development, through various government sponsored
empowerment programmes. |
For persons with disabilities the governor has placed a pat on their backs to
look up, the general acceptability of disabled persons under Governor Akpabio
has been enhanced and they are even given political responsibilities. Prosthesis
are regularly acquired for them to survive their environment and function
better.
The less privileged have received various forms of stimulus to place them on an
achievement oriented track while at the same time bridging the gap so they see
equal opportunities as everyone else. The governor has triggered scalable
opportunities in the rapid injection of turnkey projects to various parts of the
state which are equally accessible to all persons.
The development of youths has been handled with a passion by His Excellency.
More handles to the economy, political terrain, professions, and leadership has
been placed at the disposal of Akwa Ibom youths. This has resulted in the
general social deterrence to crime and the promotion of greater values among the
youths. |
