International
donor agencies that we shall approach for support also adopt the community
development paradigm we shall be adopting. Notable among these are the agencies
of the United Nations, World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF),
and United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
Other external funding agencies such as the European Union, the World Bank, the
Department of International Development and all overseas development
agencies of foreign countries conventionally focus their attention
on local communities. Today, we talk of Community-Based Organizations
(CBOs) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) which are basically
involved in community intervention programmes. We will increase
the participation of these stakeholders as our partners in progress
in Akwa Ibom State.
